making somebody's day

Just felt like sharing this...
It was a chapter in my English

This story is narrated by the author about his friend's thought process. Quite interesting.. although I don't remember much, but I remember the crux of it.. hope can give the due respect to the author.

So here it goes:
The author and his friend are travelling through bustling crowded city through a taxi. As can be expected in such crowded city, there was lot of traffic jams on their way, jumping signals, overtaking cars, rash driving and what more... the driver too loosing his patience.

Finally, they arrive at their destination. While paying the driver his fare, the friend said, "Thank you, you did a good job". And the driver had a small smile

Stunned by the statement, the author asked, "Why was such statement, it wasn't a fairy ride?"

The friend simply replied, " I was making his day".

"Making his day?, what do you mean by that?" asked the inquisitive author.

Here is the best ever thought I have read:
The friend replied:
"Well I know that there wasn't any extraordinary work done by the cabbie guy, but I was trying to make his day. Everyday, I try make such days for at least ten people. At least, one of these will feel happy or contended and may pass on it to others (may be another ten). In this process, I hope I bring some stress level low in the world and making it slightly better than yesterday.."

So are you making somebody's day!!!
