if you are boss...

Called “bodies” in the organization, and are easily replaceable with a similar experience “fool” freely available in the market. Sounds cynical statement, but thats the cruel reality. Like me, many others do face this problem, although the quantum may vary. Every morning, I wake up like a three year old not wanting to go to work today, desperately counting days for the weekend. Every evening just want to rush back to home. Reason: Lack of human touch by my present employer. ( This wasn’t true for my past employment ) It isn’t the free lodging boarding or ready made cooked food makes me rushed to my home ( instead I do all the household chores by myself ) but the warmth of the relationship attracts me to run to my home. There is no fun with work, only deadlines and pressures, poor employee recognition, longer hours and stressed lifestyle. Work could be have fun if the bosses have thought of us being more than bodies, given a human touch to the relationship rather then being formal. The ...

I love that job...

Image
Sharing my envious feeling for two jobs... Music all the way... I had a meeting at Taj in Bombay. After the meeting, when I was passing through the lobby, I saw a man playing a piano. I sat there for a while enjoying the music. He was playing awesome to entertain his customer. He was enjoying his work and was visible in his music. Perhaps, he loved his job (and who wouldn't love such job?).. Well I am not jealous of him, as I cant play any musical instruments, but I am jealous of being in the job he would love to do most. Let the flowers bloom... At ICICI Towers, the lobbies on each floor has series of pots of small plants. Everyday, throug h that glass partition I see this man.. watering the plants, cleaning the pot, cutting some dead leaves... basically gardening. I envy him, since gardening is one of my hobby and I didn't have enough time to pursue it. I always wonder, till date, why I envy these men's jobs... Even, I would like to do a job, which satisfies me to the co...

Aren't we better off?

In April, Mumbai is hot and humid, May was just about to begin in sometime. When there is 20% power cut directed by Mumbai Electricity Board, our organization immediately issued certain direction to minimize the utilization of electricity. Among the many such directives, one such order to save power was minimization of the Air Condition. "Can you imagine its so hot and the AC will not be working at the optimum level. How can you expect an employee to work in this condition." "How can they expect us to be productive enough in this heat?" That was the general talk in the canteen. Most of us were unhappy with the directives issued. We could only crib, cribbing was a second nature to us. I admit, I too crib for sometime, as mentioned earlier, cribbing is second nature to us. On one of the Saturdays, on my usual visit to a temple in Malad, I boarded a bus and carefully select a window seat which didn't face the sunlight. While the traffic was slow moving, I saw an o...

Its all for the BEST

"Its all for the best" thats how I remember the first chapter of the English subject of the third standard. Now, I don't want to prove that I have a good memory, but this article relates to what most of us feel... that whatever happens its always for some good cause. I emphasize on the word "always" . I know that some of you will disagree with me, but read on, I am sure you will agree. So its story time...... Long long ago (Now thats how am I taught to get good marks in essay writing). This is a story of a king and his prime minister. The prime minister had a habit of saying 'its all for the best'. Even in the smallest event he would say the same thing. Once, the King had a cut on his little finger and the blood was following. As usual the prime minister said 'its always all for the best'. 'How can you say its best for me when my finger is bleeding?' with anger said the King. 'Sorry my majesty, but I believe that something good must be...

A home

ever seen the video of the song... " yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar. ." from the film saath saath.. I love the simplicity of the song, and the director has managed to show reality... Each one of us dreams of having own house, maybe a bungalow. Like me, I always wish to have a big bungalow with a big garden. But in a city like mumbai, where accommodation are not easily available and affordable, places are compressed and each and every nook of the house is utilized, having a big bungalow with a garden will fit the pockets of billionares. While each of us dream big ( and its always recommended ), lets make our 'present' in a 'big way'... Simply put: There are no harm in dreaming big, but pursue it as well. Improve your present conditions, make it more worth living, live each moment of it with happiness. Taking "home" was just an example, broader your imagination... you will find many things need your attention Happy finding your goal
