I am blessed - II

that every day we are choosing either to be grateful or to be disappointed. We can worry to no end about what we don't have. Or we can marvel at God's breathtaking gifts: the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the flowers, the birds. Could we create any of these? These miracles of life are always around us, ready to be celebrated, ready to be welcomed into your life.

Faith

From the subscription of my daily dose of " What do you think of God wants You to Know ? " On this day of your life, we believe God wants you to know ... that faith is exactly what it takes to get through uncertainty. Faith is not necessary when you know how things are going to work out, - that's knowledge. It's in the time of unknowing that having faith is what sees you through to the other side. Faith is what gives you strength. Faith is that light in your heart that keeps on shining even when it's all darkness outside. Now is the time to keep that faith alive!

A year passed by

A year passed by... With so many travels to India and back, I am exhausted. So many functions and events, some good, some bad, some as they should have been some not. So many lives touched, many new people met, shared some thoughts, shared many memories... A year passed by... When I look back, I am back to the same state where I started a year back.. but empty handed. A year passed by... I am back to square one

On this day, God wants you to know...

this days I am quite hooked on to the facebook, like many other everyday mailers, I subscribed to this: On this day, God wants you to know... ... that today you have a cause for celebration. Today, you should celebrate what an unbelievable life you have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make you stronger. Just as a gem cannot be polis...hed without friction, nor can a life be perfected without trials. Take a time to acknowledge your life and to praise yourself. Such a wonderful thing!!!

Flying Kites...

Image
I haven’t read the Marathi novel, but somebody did mention about this: An employee is flying kite from the terrace of the office. It happens the same day is the inspection and the inspection officer finds the employee flying kite. He inquires why the employee flying kite during the office hours. The employee replies that he just thought of flying kite and immediately asked for official leave (which he is entitled) to fly kite. When was the last time when we wished to “fly kite” and had taken an official leave for the same?

Save Paper

Presenting some tips for saving paper, help in reducing global warming. All of these aren't new, but we seldom use: What we can do Use both sides of the paper (also known as duplex printing) Go digital -- save on postage by sending files electronically, and let your client decide whether to print them, ofcourse PDF the files before sending!! Print only what is necessary Unless confidential, use the other (blank) sides of old printouts as rough paper Eco Tip Signatures – Append a line in the email such as: Before printing, think about the environment or Please consider environment before printing this email Benefits How come such a simple gesture CAN make such a difference? Imagine how many sheets of paper are uselessly printed during the day all around the world!!! Tons of paper and thousand of trees could be saved if we just gave a thought before printing it. Do I really need this printed?? This is the question that we need to do before punching that button. And just add a messa...

Punishing the wrong child…

This is an old incident, worth thinking on for everything!!! Two cousins – “Good” and “Naughty”, of same age, say around 7-8 years met at their grandparents place. As their pseudo names suggest, Good is obedient, Naughty is defiant; Good is accommodating, Naughty is stubborn and they both differs in practically everything from eating habits to other activities. Good’s mom made him eat everything, every vegetables even if Good likes it or not; Naughty’s mom couldn’t make him all vegetables, he used to eat only potatoes. At Grandma’s place, grandma prepared Brinjal which is disliked by both Good and Naughty. But, Good is ready to Brinjal because of his mom’s sake, whereas Naughty refuses to eat as he wants only potatoes. [ Potatoes happens to be liked by both of them .] Grandma appreciates Good for his wonderful behaviour, as he eats Brinjal, lots of praises for our “good” boy. On the other hand, Grandma prepares potatoes for Naughty and tells him he is not worth of any praises. So far s...

Let the fear go…

#1: Fear of losing job Last week had been really busy, in amidst of work; I was put on working on financial model for the company. I love excel and every time I use excel I get excel in my work. I was given a half baked model to work on. I hate working on half work done by others and then I spotted mistakes in one mistake… that’s it.. took me more than 3 days to understand and correct all mistakes only to realize that the model isn’t working because of too many hard codes… Am back to square one and prepare a new model in less than a 2 days.. I ended working over weekend to see that next morning bosses changed all the parameters!! And then balance sheet wasn't tallying, and to add to the nightmare currency of company was presented in US$ whereas it was local currency. I had terrible time, frustrated and tired of working on model. That night I went to bed and said, what worst can happen? I quit, they sack me or I leave my career as financial analyst and remain house wife forever.. wh...

I am blessed

A recent experience, when life was going through tough times, I felt jealous, jealous of people who have "somethings" that I don't, and will take time and god's will to have in future. I thought do these people realise how blessed they are, for what they have others (like me) don't. A second thought just flashed simultaneously, am I aware that I am too blessed with other things which others may not have. It can be anything from having a family, or a home, or a job, or having limbs, etc. etc. I never thought that I am blessed with so many things, until this experience and I thank god for everything I have. Just a note: Of all the thoughts above doesn't mean I don't deserve "somethings" I long for. Its just that I have to try and keep my faith and hopes alive. I wish to see a bright sunny day after a long, dark night.

A friend provided this wonderful proverb, transalated in English: Immature grains stand tall , whereas fully grown grains bent or bowed down . Can we draw an analogy of this in personal life... like person with immense talent or knowledege with somebody having little knowledge?

am counting

Seen Bluffmaster yesterday, maybe seventh time. I love to see this movie again and again, ofcourse for Abhishek Bachan, witty Ritesh Deshmukh and one special reason... this scene at Gateway of India, Boman Irani giving a beautiful lesson of life to Abhishek Bachan. BI starts with the day when he first rode a bicycle his childhood days and the smiles. The day comes again in his life when his daughter is learning to ride the cycle. I love the way his pushes AB, as if he is leaving the bicycle. BI to AB: “Tumhe aise kitne din yaad hai Roy, Your first job, pehla suit, pehli salary? Jab tumne ek ladki ko pehli baar chooa? Jab pehli baar tumhara dil dhadka. 30 saal ki Zindagi mein aise kitne din hain jo tumhe yaad hain - 1, 2, 3 , 5 , 10 , 15, 30… 30 din hain na? 30 saal ki zindagi aur bas 30 din... baaki ke dino ka kya hua Roy?" and you wonder how many days can you remember?

making somebody's day

Just felt like sharing this... It was a chapter in my English This story is narrated by the author about his friend's thought process. Quite interesting.. although I don't remember much, but I remember the crux of it.. hope can give the due respect to the author. So here it goes: The author and his friend are travelling through bustling crowded city through a taxi. As can be expected in such crowded city, there was lot of traffic jams on their way, jumping signals, overtaking cars, rash driving and what more... the driver too loosing his patience. Finally, they arrive at their destination. While paying the driver his fare, the friend said, "Thank you, you did a good job". And the driver had a small smile Stunned by the statement, the author asked, "Why was such statement, it wasn't a fairy ride?" The friend simply replied, " I was making his day". "Making his day?, what do you mean by that?" asked the inquisitive author. Here is the b...

When the dream comes true

Ever experience the pleasure of any wish, a small dream, getting fulfilled without any effort, any planning, unexpected, out of the browns (Well I know the correct phrase is out of the blues ). Description of this feeling fall short of words. I recently experienced, my one such dream come true and I lived that moments to the fullest. Thanks to a dear friend, his wife and my husband for making, although unknowingly, making it true for me!!!

On this festival of Holi

You are in a different country when: You wish your family and friends with festival greetings on email instead of wishing with a warm hug and gulal. You end up having message especially google searched and typed with colourful text and an added picture. You are in a different country when: Your messages to your friend or family are returned with the same email by just changing names. You are in a different country when: You wish festival greetings on email to your colleague (who belongs to the same country) right next to you. Doesn’t bother to shake hands and exchange sweets. Its strange, but we still do that…

if you are boss...

Called “bodies” in the organization, and are easily replaceable with a similar experience “fool” freely available in the market. Sounds cynical statement, but thats the cruel reality. Like me, many others do face this problem, although the quantum may vary. Every morning, I wake up like a three year old not wanting to go to work today, desperately counting days for the weekend. Every evening just want to rush back to home. Reason: Lack of human touch by my present employer. ( This wasn’t true for my past employment ) It isn’t the free lodging boarding or ready made cooked food makes me rushed to my home ( instead I do all the household chores by myself ) but the warmth of the relationship attracts me to run to my home. There is no fun with work, only deadlines and pressures, poor employee recognition, longer hours and stressed lifestyle. Work could be have fun if the bosses have thought of us being more than bodies, given a human touch to the relationship rather then being formal. The ...
